GFT is now accepting submissions for the upcoming collaborative production, Affairs of the Heart.
The theme for the one-act collection of monologues is infidelity – stories of betrayal, compulsion, obsession, sex, love, guilt, joy, and loneliness – and the final script will feature monologues designed to be an interconnected web, where each story brings us to the next story, and each character introduces the character to come.
Affairs of the Heart will be performed on Saturday, February 12, on Goodly Frame Theatre’s YouTube channel.
Interested playwrights based in North Carolina should submit a 1-2 page monologue sample of their work by January 17. Work samples may be pulled from previously published material. Any NC writer can submit material for consideration.
Goodly Frame Theatre seeks to tell a wide variety of stories and would like to have a diverse group of playwrights of all ages, races, genders, and sexual orientations.
Selected playwrights will be notified by January 19.
If selected for the festival, playwrights must be available to attend a mandatory Zoom conference call on January 22, where we will collaboratively develop the characters and the overarching storylines for this project. Since this is envisioned as a collaborative project, writers must be willing to consider suggestions from one another. Once characters have been collectively determined, playwrights will individually write and submit their monologues for peer review (2-3 pages, 5-7 minutes in length) no later than January 29.
